An online shop that still looks like your brand.
We build e-commerce sites with Shopify behind the cart and checkout, and a custom site for everything else. The commerce stays reliable, and the brand, the story and the photography aren’t squeezed into a theme.
Why the split
Shopify is very good at a cart, a checkout, payments and fulfilment. It should not get to decide how the rest of your brand looks. So the shop runs on Shopify, and the site around it is designed and built for you.
TOSTÉ is the clearest example: a Next.js front end, Sanity for the story and Shopify for products, cart and checkout. The editorial side is edited as content, not as product descriptions.
What we build around the shop
Wholesale that isn’t a checkout
Retail is a card payment; wholesale is a conversation about volume and terms. On Chocolique, wholesale runs as its own enquiry path, kept out of the consumer checkout entirely.
Clubs, vouchers and bookings
At Kellybrook Winery the wine club, gift vouchers and offers run through the same checkout as a case of wine, alongside cellar door and kitchen bookings, on one site.
Stockists and trade
For brands sold in shops as well as online, a stockist list and trade enquiry sit beside the shop so buyers find you either way.
What it costs
E-commerce is priced as an add-on to a build package, quoted in writing rather than bundled in silently. The website cost page sets out the build prices it sits on.

Questions about e-commerce websites.
- Which e-commerce platform do you use?
- Shopify, for the cart, checkout, payments and fulfilment. The rest of the site is custom rather than a Shopify theme.
- Why not just use a Shopify theme?
- A storefront template is a poor place to tell a brand’s story. Keeping Shopify behind the shop and designing the rest means the commerce stays reliable and the brand still looks like itself.
- Can we manage products and orders ourselves?
- Yes. Products, stock and orders are managed in Shopify, and the rest of the site in its CMS.
- Can you handle wholesale as well as retail?
- Yes. Wholesale usually runs as its own enquiry path, separate from the consumer checkout, because a trade order is a conversation about volume and terms rather than a card payment.
- How much does an e-commerce website cost?
- E-commerce is an add-on to a build package and quoted in writing. Builds start at NZ$20,000. Prices are in New Zealand dollars and exclude GST.
